I’ve previously mentioned how, as the voice pattern for “Microsoft David,” I’ve heard myself in the most unexpected places. But this moved me.
Ady Barkan was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease in 2016. On April 30th, he brought his story to the Congress of a nation grappling with a healthcare system which Barkan says delivers “high costs, bad outcomes, mind-boggling bureaucracy, racial disparities, bankruptcies, geographic inequities, and obscene profiteering. ” Paralyzed and unable to speak on his own, Barkan uses a computer voice to tell his story. He chose mine. I’m proud my voice can tell his story, to Washington and the nation.
